Children more than ever need opportunities to be in their bodies in the world - jumping rope, bicycling, stream hopping and fort building. It’s this engagement between limbs of the body and bones of the earth where true balance and centeredness emerge.

Join us for a play session held among the trees, where we immerse ourselves in a slow and gentle rhythm to our mornings of coming together to bake bread, explore creative experiences, tend to our garden, investigate our surroundings and connect with yourself, your child and the land on which we gather.

Our sessions are rooted in a deep appreciation of the world around us. Each session creates a unique experience for you and your child as we use the rhythm of the seasons to inspire our daily provocations. We cannot wait to guide you and your little ones in our sacred space of the world.

A Wild Wanderer is a child who loves to be barefoot, outdoors, wildly and curiously exploring their environment, they are 12 months to 5 years old and love to have a slow and steady rhythm to their morning. Our nature gatherings will go for an hour and a half.

Wild Wanderers Nature Gatherings run on a Monday and a Wednesday, and the groups are kept intentionally small with a minimum of 7 and a maximum of 10 in attendance. Our Nature Gatherings are run in the morning, beginning at 9.30am and finishing at 11:00am.

Fresh bread and chai tea is provided. You are also encouraged to bring along a fresh piece of fruit to cut up to be shared.

We follow a gentle rhythm that invites children to feel supported and calm as they flow through their morning. The children and families enjoy building relationships with one another, singing, listening to stories told with props and enthusiasm, learning alongside each other, sharing in a nourishing meal and unpacking topics of interest to the group.

This is a term-by-term program.

FAQs

Where are you located?

We are located on Sydney’s Northern Beaches in beautiful Dee Why, we operate our sessions from my mother-in-laws garden. The specific address will be provided in your welcome email upon enrolment.

What should I bring with me?

Our beautiful play sessions are held outdoors in all weather, with the exception of hail, thunder, lightning or forceful gusts of wind. We ask that you please bare this in mind when dressing and packing to attend our sessions. When packing, we encourage you to consider:

  • A nourishing morning tea (baring in mind that fresh bread and butter will be provided)

  • A drink bottle for both you and your mini

  • Weather appropriate gear - gum boots, rain pants, rain jacket in the event of predicted rain, etc.

  • Broad-brimmed hat

  • Shoes that support exploration (enclosed/barefoot shoes)

  • Spare change of clothes for when your little one indulges in water, sand or dirt play that you do not wish to bring home with you.

What happens if it’s raining?

We are advocates for nature play occurring in all weather conditions, so long as it is within safe limits.

In the event of unsafe conditions, you will be notified of the cancellation prior to the commencement of session via email and given the opportunity to reschedule your session and if unable to reschedule, a refund will be promptly provided.

Is there parking?

You can find a park either side of the street, leaving the cul-de-sac free and available as the turning circle needed to safely navigate the street. We ask that you please drive mindfully when coming to or from sessions, as there are many children who live in the area and often play along the sides of the road with the many tree swings dotted along the street.

How old does my child need to be?

Our space caters for children aged one to five years. Children are required to be accompanied by a trusted parent or caregiver at all times.

There is a focus on variety in the experiences and space provided to our families that enable children of all ages to benefit greatly from their explorations.

What does a session look like?

Our mornings begin with being welcomed at our gate down the side entrance of the house. Here our facilitator will check you in and touch base with how you and your little one have been going over the past week to know how to best support you during your session. As you are welcomed in, you will be invited to gather for our morning circle and story before moving on to prepare our bread together ready for the oven. As our nourishing bread bakes away in the oven, you and your children will be invited to immerse yourselves in a variety of nature play experiences, tend to the garden space, connect with those around you, before taking a much needed rest as we share some morning tea with one another before farewelling each other for the day.
